How long do essential oil blends really last? In reality, unopened blends can last about 18 months. However, once opened, they should be used within 6 to 12 months.
After use, remember to wipe the bottle rim clean with a tissue to prevent oxidation particles from forming. For example, pomegranate seed oil blends are prone to particles forming around the rim. While this doesn't affect the product, it does look a bit unsightly.
Another tip: Never add new oil to an unused bottle of essential oil blend, even if it's the exact same formula. The remaining oil in the bottle will not oxidize to the same degree as the new oil, and adding new oil will accelerate its deterioration.
